“Thousands of members of Ford, General Motors and Stellantis are on strike – the American International Automobile Union thanks Irakli Petriashvili and Georgian Trade Unions Confederation for their solidarity.

Due to unfair remuneration and unsafe work, thousands of members of American car companies: Ford, General Motors and Stellantis are on strike. More than a thousand employees are working under expired contracts.

Last week, Georgian Trade Unions Confederation expressed solidarity with the strike of workers in the Agriculture, Automobile and Aviation sectors of the United States and was joining  the solidarity campaign. Due to this, the president of  the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America, Shawn Fein, sent a letter of thanks to Georgian Trade unions Confederation and its president, Irakli Petriashvili.

On behalf of the one million active and retired members of the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW), I write to express my deep gratitude for your words of solidarity and support amidst our Stand Up strike. Currently, thousands of our members at Ford, General Motors and Stellantis are striking against unfair pay, rolled back benefits, and lack of job security. Thousands more are working under an expired contract, waiting to Stand Up if called upon.

The Big Three American auto companies have made record profits since the great recession. It is time for UAW workers to benefit from the companies’ prosperity and be rewarded for their hard work and sacrifice over the years. For UAW members walking the picket line, there is nothing more powerful than to feel solidarity from fellow union brothers and sisters from around the world. It is a gift that lifts morale and encourages workers to go one day longer and one day stronger than the company.

Thank you for the gift of solidarity.

The UAW will not forget your critical support during our strikes. Justice and fair labor practices will never be reached worldwide if we do not all work together and Stand Up together! – Shawn Fein “– in letter.

The strike of automobile sector employees was started in September.
