Yesterday afternoon a meeting was held between administration and employees. The meeting was attended by: Director General of Saknakhshiri LTD (GIG Group), majoritarian deputy from Tkibuli, Imereti Governor, Tkibuli Mayor, Chairperson of Sakrebulo, representatives of sectoral and primary trade unions organisation and the miners.
Representatives of Steel International Trade Company were also attending the meeting; they announced that they would start operating the mines from Monday.
The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia thanked the representatives of Georgia Trade Unions Confederation, as well as the representatives of sectoral
and primary trade unions organisation for the envolvement in the process.
The negotiations ended with the following agreement:
-On September 26-27, the process of transferring the assets will be completed and the salaries will be paid by a new company on September 30.
-In October, Regulation on Labour safety and additional investment document concerning re-equipment will be provided.
-In November, coal extraction will be resumed, and after two years, as a result of appropriate preparatory work, production will be increased from 300 000 tonnes to 550 000 tonnes.
-All the financial obligations, that GIG Group had to the family members of killed and injured in mines people, will be transferred to the new company.
-Labour and industrial processes in Tkibuli mines will be conducted under strong communication with the trade unions and collective agreement will be concluded.
After the meeting, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia introduced the results of negotiations to the protesters. The protesters asked her several clarifying questions and after receiving answers to their questions, the Chairman of the primary trade unions organisation announced the decision to end the demonstration.
The achieved result is acceptable for the miners and they believe that full compliance with the agreement can only be achieved through the involvement of the trade unions.
