Trade Unions have identified significant violations during OHS inspection at construction sites in Batumi.
The inspection was carried out at Ltd. Dar Building and Ltd. Batumsheni. The identical violations of OHS norms were identified. In particular, the employees were not wearing the special clothing, shoes, helmets. The balconies on the building site and the stairs did not have temporary protective railings. On any of the facilities OHS conditions did not meet the standards set by the law.
The inspection of a stadium construction was also carried out. The works are conducted by Ltd. Anagi. The head of the security service and the manager of the same company at the construction site did not allow the lawyer of the Trade Union and OHS inspector to inspect the internal perimeter of the facility. They interviewed the company representatives who claim that the construction works are in compliance with the safety standards established by law.
However, while observing an external perimeter, even though the employers were wearing the spec. clothing and helmets, the inspectors still noticed some kind of non-compliance with the safety standards. In particular, those employees who worked at the height did not have special protective belts.
We would like to remind that on September 12, one worker was injured on this site. Investigation is underway on this fact. As it is known, the accident was allegedly caused by incorrect actions performed on crane. Crane is operated by another company.
Inspection was carried out on September 13 by the Inspector of Georgian Trade Unions Confederation Paata Ninua and the lawyer of the same organization Anna Chapidze.
