On December 5, in Brussels, the 5th Congress of Pan-European Regional Council was chaired by the president of the Georgian Trade Unions Confederation (GTUC) and until now the president of PERC, Irakli Petriashvili.
The members of PERC, representatives of International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and Parliamentarian Agnes Jongerius thanked Irakli Petriashvili, who was elected to the position of president for two terms for 8 years, for his successful work. Jongerius gave Irakli Petriashvili the Phebe Elizabeth Velasquez Award for the best trade union leadership in 2011. Parliamentarian noted, that along with his associates, he will lobby for important topics for the union of our society and Georgian Trade Unions Confederation.
Within the framework of the visit, the members of GTUC delegation met with Esther Lynch, the Executive Secretary of European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC). The representatives of ETUC express their readiness according to the membership of GTUC and planned the necessary steps and measures for this process.
ETUC is a part of ITUC, which unites the trade unions of the EU member countries.
In addition, the congress of PERC elected Raisa Liparteliani, the Deputy Chairmen of the GTUC, as one of the Vice-Presidents of the General Council. Despite that, at the meeting were elected: new General Secretary, President and Vice-Presidents – approved the composition of PERC Executive Committee was approved.
