At the fifth congress of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) , the president of the Georgian Trade Unions Confederation (GTUC) – Irakli Petriashvili was elected as the Vice-President of the ITUC and titular member of the Executive Committee.
“The International Trade Union Confederation have a new general secretary, in whose pre-election election campaign, presentation, election we will make a big contribution. Congratulations to Luca Visentini. Also, we have a new team and Georgian Trade Unions Confederation is represented at all levels, both as the Vice President of the ITUC and in the General Council and in the Executive Committee, among the eight “titular members” from Europe, that govern the ITUC. This means that Georgian workers will have access to and the opportunity to benefit from the activities that ITUC are engaged in terms of strengthening the rights of employees. We will make maximum efforts to solve the challenges in Georgia in the international field” – said Irakli Petriashvili.
In addition, at the congress, Raisa Liparteliani, the Vice-President of the Georgian Trade Unions Confederation, was elected as a member of the Women’s Committee of the International Trade Union Confederation.
Irakli Petriashvili, President of the Georgian Trade Unions Confederation (GTUC), is also the President of the Pan-European Regional Council of the International Trade Union Confederation.
The Fifth Congress of the International Trade Unions Confederation “New Social Contract for All” is being held in Melbourne, Australia and ends today.
