Irakli Petriashvili chaired the session of PERC in Warsaw

In Warsaw, Poland, the annual meeting of the Pan-European Regional Executive Council – “Implementation of the New Social Contract in the Region of the Pan-European Council” was held, which was chaired by Irakli Petriashvili, the President of the Pan-European Regional Council and the President of Georgian Trade Unions Confederation.

The forum brings together PERC organizations, trade union leaders and officials from across the Europe, who have discussed the challenges facing European trade union movements and developed a joint future action plan.

At the Session, the Acting General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation, Luke Triangle, spoke about the implementation of the Declaration of the Melbourne Congress and preparations for the October Congress of the International trade Union Confederation.

And Secretary General Esther Lynch reviewed the mission and evolution of the Pan-European Regional Council (PERC): 2007 to 2023. In particular, what unites trade unions from different countries, what is the future work plan for the renewal of trade unions in the region of the Pan-European Regional Council and how to coordinate joint work and support by different structures.

The presentation of the International Trade Unions Confederation on the implementation of the new social contract was held. They discussed the importance of international solidarity and discussed the current issues in Ukraine, Belarus, South-Eastern European countries.

The session participants reviewed important issues and rights protection mechanisms such as: the right to strike, transnational exploitation, labour protection, inequality and inclusion in the gender gap and vulnerable groups. They discussed the need to ratify Convention 190.
