It is being held within the framework of a joint project of the Georgian Trade Union Confederation (GTUC), the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) and the Austrian Trade Union Federation (OGB) “Towards the regions! Trade union educational program on labour rights for workers in Tbilisi and regions of Adjara and Imereti”. Before that, schools were also held in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and again, Batumi.
The Batumi II TUSG was opened by Irakli Petriashvili, GTUC president and it was preceded by training on gender equality and non-discrimination. It should be noted that more than 300 activists and interested persons employed in different fields and sectors have already been trained through similar schools. Important topics such as human and labour rights, labour legislation, labour safety and the importance of labour inspection, gender issues, ways and methods of negotiation, communication with the public and the media, freedom of association and other trade union -related topics are taught in the trade union school.
The aim of the school is to raise the knowledge and awareness of activists and trade unionists thus contribute to the democratic development of the country.
