“Constitution belongs to everyone”- The president of Georgia visited GTUC

The President of Georgia met with representatives of the Georgian Trade Unions Confederation (GTUC) in the framework of the campaign – “Constitution belongs to everyone”. Giorgi Margvelashvili came out with an initiative to present his positions to the trade unions. The President of Georgia met with around 200 representatives of the sectoral trade unions of Georgia at the Centre of Culture.
The meeting that was moderated by the President of the Georgian Trade Unions Confederation (GTUC) Irakli Petriashvili started with a moment of silence. The president and the assembled audience paid a standing respect to the memory of the miners that died in Tkibuli.
The meeting was attended by leaders of the sectoral trade unions and ordinary trade union members.
Irakli Petriashvili started the meeting with speaking about main expectations and interests of the audience.
With respect to constitutional changes, the President paid attention to labour rights, importance of safeguards of occupational health and safety in the conditions of social state.
Giorgi Margvelashvili expressed its astonishment that despite their wish, trade union representatives were not involved in the work of the Constitutional Commission.
